In 1977, I was in Max M. Miller's model shop class at Lane Tech in Chicago. Me and a few other students
were assigned to create wooden items for an upcoming craft show at the Museum of Science & Industry.
Mr. Miller did not approve of the 'decal', as he called it, that I added to my vase, so even tho it
was supposed to be in the show, it was no where to be seen when my parents and I went there. Just
a bunch of wood-only vases, bowls, boxes, etc. from all the participating Chicago area schools.
All very nice peices, but in total, very monotonous. I can understand how the organizers would think
that the florescent colors did not fit with the show's theme.
It has been serving as a penny jar since 1994. 2009 was the last time I cashed in the contents and
it was only 12$, so I started including nickels. It's about 2/3 full now.
